.TH PDIFF 1P "22 June 1983" .UC 4 .SH NAME pdiff \- differential project comparator .SH SYNOPSIS .B pdiff [\fB\-rx\fR] [\fB\-T \fRtypexpr] [diff options] projectname1 projectname2 .PP .B pdiff [\fB\-x\fR] [diff options] pdirname1 pdirname2 .PP .B pdiff [\fB\-x\fR] [diff options] file1 file2 .SH DESCRIPTION .I Pdiff compares files in projects using the .I diff command. .I Diff tells what lines must be changed in the files to bring them into agreement. Except in rare circumstances, it finds a smallest sufficient set of file differences. .PP If both arguments are projects, .I pdiff sorts the project directories in each project by name, and then runs .I diff on the contents of common directories. Binary files that differ, common subdirectories, and files that appear in only one directory are listed. .PP If .I pdirname1 is a project, then a project directory in that project with the same name as .I pdirname2 is used (and vice versa). .PP If .I file1 is a project, then a file in that project with the same name as .I file2, residing in a project directory with the same name as the current working project directory, is used (and vice versa). .SH OPTIONS .IP \fB\-r\fR Apply .I pdiff recursively to common subprojects. .IP \fB\-x\fR Trace and print .I diff commands, but do not execute. .IP "\fB\-T \fItypexpr\fR" Only compare project directories corresponding to boolean type label expression, .I typexpr. .SH "SEE ALSO" diff(1) .SH DIAGNOSTICS The error message ``pdiff: don't know which project directory to use in \fIprojectname\fR'' indicates that the file or directory that is being compared against .I projectname is not part of the current working project. .PP Exit status is 0 for no differences, 1 for some, 2 for trouble. .SH AUTHOR Peter J.
